FED ALERT Spurs look to swoop for Chiesa but will have to pay £70m for Italy's rising star
Sarah akiru|March. 09, 2019
TOTTENHAM want to join the race for Italy’s big hope Federico Chiesa — but it will take a stunning £70million.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino would love a new attacking face to challenge for major honours.
And Spurs spies are putting the 21-year-old Fiorentina star top of the wishlist.
But Chiesa, who plays wide or central and has skills and pace, is one of the most wanted men in Europe right now — with Juventus and the Milan clubs primed to bid.
Sources close to Chiesa reveal he is interested in a move to London and was initially hoping that Maurizio Sarri ’s Chelsea would come for him.
Yet as Chelsea face a transfer ban and Sarri’s future is uncertain, Tottenham’s chances have risen.
Pochettino said last week that he wanted an “extra magic man” and supremo Daniel Levy could sanction a summer move to keep his highly rated manager happy.
Tough negotiator Levy would have to dig deep to land Chiesa and may have to sell to do so.
But they are serious about a player who would have a sell-on value if he becomes the superstar he is widely tipped to turn into.
