Shelbourne demolished Kilkenny United 10-0 in their Women's National League opener on Sunday as 16-year-old Jessica Ziu notched a hat-trick in a ruthless performance.
Shels were home and hosed by half-time in Thomastown thanks to a Ziu brace and two more strikes from Alannah McEvoy and Jessica Gargan.
Ziu got her third goal on the turnaround, with Emily Whelan and Alex Kavanagh (2), Rebecca Creagh and Gargan again completing the scoring. Naima Chemaou netted Kilkenny's sole reply.
There goals galore too in Galway 's 6-3 win against Limerick at Markets Field.
Sinead Donovan and Aoife Thompson strikes left Galway in control at the break and they didn't let up.
Lynsey McKey (2), an own goal , and another Donovan effort left the six up, with Limerick rallying through Sylvia Gee, Aoife Horgan and Sophie Liston making the scoreline look a little more flattering.
On Saturday, defending champions Wexford Youths eased past DLR Waves 3-0 at Ferrycarrig Park.
Rianna Jarrett broke the deadlock in the second half with new signing Jenny Clifford doubling the lead soon after.
A Jarrett penalty then made sure of the points with 14 minutes to go.
Peamount United edged past Cork City 2-1 in Greenogue. Katie McCarthy gave Cork the perfect start, lashing home from the edge of the box after 30 seconds.
But Amber Barrett levelled it up six minutes later and veteran Aine O'Gorman poked home before half-time to complete the turnaround.
