Phone companies keep on coming up with something new each passing day. There is no phone company that wants to be left behind as they are all competing for customers. This then translates to them coming up with phones that are likely to be loved even though that is not what always happens. The Xiaomi company has a new phone in the market; the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 was launched this year and its just extraordinary for a mid-range phone. It comes with a 48MP rear camera, a 13MP front camera, a 4000 mAh battery and Android version 9.0 pie. All this and many more come at a price of Kshs. 19800 at Jumia and Kshs. 19,999 at Mobitread.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is an excellent budget phone. This does not, however, mean it is all good as it also has some cons. Here are the pros and cons of this phone.
The most fascinating feature of this phone is its 48-megapixel camera. For a mid-range phone that is quite something. There are big boys in the phone industry who still don’t have a 48MP phone camera just to show how impressive that is. It uses Android version 9.0 which is the latest Android operating system. It has an impressive battery of 4000 mAh, and it has a fast charging feature. This enables it to stay for long as well as take very little time to get fully charged. It uses the type C USB connectivity. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.Another exciting feature about this phone is that it has a face unlocking feature that is powered by AI technologyIt has curved glass protection to keep the screen from scratches and damages.
The box does not come with a fast charger; hence you have to buy it independently if you want. It does not have a removable battery; hence you can’t change the battery yourself in case it becomes defective. It does not have an NFC connectivity. It does not have 4K video recording yet it has a chipset able to support it.

Hardware specifications of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 in detail
The hardware comprises of the tangible physical features of the phone. They include how the phone feels when you hold it, how it looks and what extras it has that can be noticed.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note is a very stylish phone. It is a slim phone, and this makes it hand as well as pocket-friendly. It weighs 185 grams which is just about the right weight you would want. It is not only waterproof but also splash proof. This means any liquid that splashes on it won’t have any damaging effect on it. I am sure that is something we would all want our phones to have. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which is strategically placed for easy unlocking of the phone. It also has its dual camera system with LED flash at the back. The side of the phone is made of glossy plastic which gives it more grip. The audio jack is placed at the top of the phone.
This phone comes with a screen size of 6.3 inches. That is a big enough size for all your texting, watching and gaming needs. It has a screen resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels. The screen has a Corning Gorilla Glass to ensure it is protected from scratches. The screen is multitouch.
Processor, storage and performance
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 comes with an internal storage of either 32GB or 64GB. The storage can be extended to 256GB by using a microSD. The 32GB internal memory comes with a 3GB RAM while the 64GB one comes with either 4 or 6GB RAM. This RAM to internal memory ratio is sufficient to ensure that the phone does not lag. The phone comes equipped with a Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 processor. This is a mighty processor that can handle even heavy gaming.
This mid-range smartphone comes with a 4000 mAh battery. Yes, you heard me right, a 4000 mAh battery. The battery life has an endurance rating of 108 hours. The phone has a fast charging feature. This is quite an advantage as it takes you such little time to get it from 0% to 100% charge. The only flaw that comes with its battery and charging is that the company does not include a Quick Charge 4.0 capable charger in the box. This might be due to the fact that this is a budget phone and including it would increase the price of the phone.
Speaker & call quality
The speakers of this phone are quite loud which is something you want. They are placed at the bottom of the phone. The sound is very clear even in very high volumes. The audio quality is also quite impressive with external sound amplifiers. This means that when it is connected to the home theatre or car stereo, it still sounds clear. Its loudness is still quite impressive even when it comes to headphones.
This looks at the internal features of the phone. It includes the operating system and the likes.
Operating system and features
This phone runs on the newest version of the Android operating system. This is the Android 9.0 (Pie). It also runs on MUIU 10. MUIU 10 is a software developed by the Xiaomi company, and it is based on Google’s Android operating system. This thus makes the phone top notch in that it has all the latest features which aid in its smooth running.
Camera, video, and image quality
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 boasts of one of the best cameras for a mid-range phone. It has a 48-megapixel primary camera. This is an ideal phone for all those photo lovers that are on a budget. This phone comes with three cameras; two at the rear and one at the front. It has an awe-inspiring image quality as the HDR works perfectly to give you highly detailed images. The selfie camera is 13MP. This is also a good camera, and it works to provide you with good selfies in almost all conditions. The rear camera is able to record 1080p@30fps videos which is quite something. It can also shoot great slow motion videos at either 1080p or 720p at 120fps. The only downside for this phone is that it does not support 4K recording.
According to user reviews and ratings of the phone at Gadgets360, the phone gets a rating of 4.4 out of 5. The comments section show that people are impressed with its camera, its battery, its storage and its performance.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is a nice phone. Just like any other thing in this world, it has its pros and cons. It is worth the price considering the things it has to offer. There are other instances that I think that the price is a bit cheap, but I guess that's why it is a budget phone. This phone can be compared to the Nokia 8.1 when it comes to the specifications. They are both great phones. It just depends on what you are going for. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is a phone I would consider buying due to the many reasons that have been highlighted in the article.
