Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that there is confusion at some centres where officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) are registering Ghanaians for the Ghana card.
Reports show that the process has been fraught with various challenges as Ghanaians struggle to get their cards.
YEN.com.gh understands that some people opt to sleep overnight at the registration centres in a bid to be present when the registration process starts at 7am.
Per a report by Graphic.com.gh, other challenges are the length of the queues and technical challenges.
Some people revealed that that they had to wait between three and seven days to get their Ghana cards, while others claimed that even though they had met all the requirements and gone through the process, their cards were yet to be issued. The cards are expected to be issued instantly.
While some of the centres had made provision for seats, other places had no such arrangements, leaving people standing to wait for their turns.
In some places, there were scuffles and misunderstanding among the patrons over their positions in the queues, while the registration process had stalled at some centres due to technical challenges.
Most of the registration officers and supervisors at the various centres visited were not willing to speak, and they explained that they had not been authorised to speak to the media.
