May. 27, 2019
Two people were killed by lightning during the rain in Ayetoro Gbedde, Kogi State.
Wale Ayeku and Joseph also known as J-Boy were seeking shelter in the local Game-Joint when they were struck.
“There were nine of them under a tree, where young people usually meet to play snooker when the rain started, but the thunder and lightning that accompanied the rain scared everyone.
According to reports, nine of them were struck but only seven survived with minor injuries.
Not long after the rain started, we heard loud screams and wailing which compelled people to scamper for safety. In the midst of that confusion, we discovered the nine victims were struck down by the lightning, though seven others survived with injuries.”
The community believes that there were spiritual forces behind the incident, which would be revealed in seven days time.
When contacted, the traditional ruler, Olu of Ayetoro Gbedde, Sunday Ehindero, confirmed the incident.
