TOUR DE FARCE Pogba and Lingard appear to clash as Man Utd arrive for pre-season Down Under
Babette|July. 08, 2019
PAUL POGBA'S Manchester United saga took a bizarre twist when fans spotted him apparently clashing with Jesse Lingard - in a video posted by the club's own media team.
United's trip Down Under became an instant tour de farce as Victor Lindelof was seen pulling a tense-looking Pogba away when the England star appeared to confront the unsettled Real Madrid and Juventus target.
United supporters on social media were amazed as well as dismayed - because the clip was supposed to show the squad relaxing as they arrived in Perth.
United themselves tweeted the video with the words: "Nothing like a walk to stretch the legs after a 16-hour flight 👌😊 #MUFC #MUTOUR."
But although most of the players smiled and chatted happily, the camera caught Sweden centre-back Lindelof intervening in what seemed an agitated exchange.
Lingard seemed to be sternly questioning Pogba, who turned back and appeared ready to step towards the fellow 26-year-old.
That was when Lindelof grabbed £150million-rated Pogba around the shoulder and walked on with him as if to cool the situation.
One fan tweeted: "Pogba looks like he’s about to fight Lingard at 0:11 before Lindelof calms him down. Can’t tell if it’s real or not though."
Another said: "Looks real to me. Absolute state of this squad."
Some posters wondered if they saw Lindelof "break up" something as speculation spiralled over what actually happened.
Other fans blasted the club for including the footage in the first place.
Dillian MUFC said: "Did Manchester United really just release a video where it looks like Lingard and Pogba are having an argument and Lindelof has to get involved?"
While Danny H added: "I can’t believe United have released a video containing a clip of Pogba and Lingard arguing, with Lindelöf calming it down. We’re a joke club."
Stephen Mina summed up the thoughts of many fans, writing: "Just when you thought United couldn't get any more tragic and a joke the admin post a f***ing video of Pogba and Lingard arguing and Lindelof having to separate them.
"Absolute banter club. Just flush it away." United had ordered Pogba to fly out for the first trip of United's pre-season training, after the former Juve hero's agent Mino Raiola reportedly upped efforts to land his man a transfer .
Meanwhile, defender Marcus Rojo sparked disagreement amongst some supporters - over whether he was looking too happy!
The Argentinian, 29, who is fully fit after injury problems, had the biggest smile and laugh in the clip of United players strolling along a road in shorts and T-shirts.
One fan posted: "I used to love the guy... but seeing Marcos Rojo laughing and joking really winds me up now! The guy is stealing a living!! I honest'y can't remember any games that i've seen him play him or anything memorable that he has contributed to #MUFC"
But a typical opposite opinion was: "So he isn't allowed to have fun now."
