- The 14-year-old said despite traveling and performing in numerous countries, she has never earned a dime
- According to her, her fellow manager pocketed all her proceeds
- Wendy said she lives in a single roomed house located in Huruma estate and her mum sells sweets and cigarettes at night
At 14-years old, electric gymnast and acrobat Wendy Waeni has brought laughter and joy to the hearts of dignitaries and traveled across the globe to showcase her talent.
However, the young girl has just proven that truly all that glitters is not gold.
During an interview with Citizen TV, the young scholar lamented about how her former manager Joe Mwangi allegedly conned her out of all her earnings.
While people thought the enthusiastic gymnast was laughing her way to the bank, Wendy was wallowing in poverty.
According to the St Georges Girls High School student, she has never seen a penny from her hard work.
Painfully narrating her story, the flexible gymnast claimed her former manager never shared proceeds from her engagements and always kept her social media passwords under lock and key.
“My mum sells sweets. I live in a single roomed house located in Huruma. I have performed all over the world but I have not got even a single penny. My mum is really suffering,” Wendy said.
In a shaky voice, Wendy admitted she had to switch managers after suspecting she was being swindled.
On social media, people assumed Wendy was a ‘rude brat’ who had no respect for her followers.
Apparently, the person in charge of her accounts is none other than Joe.
Immediately after the interview aired and social media jumped on the issue, Wendy’s Instagram page was switched to private.
Wendy became an instant sensation when her talent caught the eyes of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rwandan leader Paul Kagame.
She was later named as UNICEF's Inspirational and Enthusiastic Young Champion Ambassador.
