Murkomen takes on city lawyer Donald B. Kiporir after Uhuru ‘demoted all Kalenjin PSs except one’ in latest reshuffle
Sept. 07, 2019
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen set Twitter on fire on Saturday morning, taking on city lawyer Donald B. Kipkorir who alleged that yesterday’s changes in government made by President Uhuru Kenyatta effectively demoted all Kalenjin Permanent Secretaries except one.
Taking to Twitter in what he termed as his “Message to Kalenjin Nation”, Kipkorir alleged that the latest reorganization amounted to demotion of all Permanent Secretaries from the Kalenjin community except Esther (Koimet).
He also pointed out that most of the CEOs and CSs who have been arrested (over corruption allegations) hail from the same community.
“My Message to Kalenjin Nation: Most of Kalenjin Ministers, PSes & CEOs are my classmates Majority of CEOs arrested are Kalenjin. PSes reshuffle today demoted all Kalenjin PSes except Esther. Unless you realize there is One President, you will all end up in Jail or Dismissed." He wrote.
Murkomen sought clarification from the lawyer on whether the individuals have been targeted with arrests and the reshuffles to pass a coded message on who is in charge.
“Is it your submission that they are being targeted and profiled to pass a message that the President and only the President is the President of Kenya?” Murkomen wrote.
Kipkorir however declined to to share his interpretation of the ‘coded’ message, telling him that unlike him (Murkomen), he has neither served in government nor at State House, adding that it is upon every one to decipher the message.
“My Senator & Friend .... I have never worked in State House or indeed Government, but am a lifetime student of History & Politics .... There is a message being passed to our people ... It’s for each of us to decipher.” Tweeted Kipkorir.
While the two read politics in the spirited war against corruption and the president’s desire to enhance efficiency in government, a communique from State House made it clear, the changes were made in “order to enhance efficiency and service delivery”.
No one spared as fight against corruption sinks the high and mighty
The president has on numerous occasions asserted that no one will be spared in the fight against corruption.
Indeed the fight against corruption has seen warrants of arrests and actual arrests made targeting individuals from across the country who have been named in corrupt dealings.
Among those caught up in the fight against corruption is Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu, Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich, Kisumu County Assembly speaker Onyango Oloo and Bobasi MP Innocent Momanyi Obiri.
