JUST IN! Why Robert Mugabe's Burial Earlier Scheduled For Sep 15, Is Postponed Indefinitely
Sept. 10, 2019
The burial of Robert Mugabe, former Zimbabwean President, has been postponed until further notice.
Earlier arrangements indicate Mugabe was to be laid to rest Sunday September 15, but family members told Zimlive, a local news service on Tuesday that the plans have been altered.
According to Mugabe’s nephew, Leo Mugabe, who is also the family’s spokesman, Mugabe was a chief and he would be given a traditional burial.
He said, “Mugabe was a chief and he will be buried in accordance with tradition. The chiefs have not told us where he will be buried, so it is not clear yet. I also don’t know”.
Mugabe died on Friday at the age of 95 in Singapore, where he was receiving medical treatment. Mugabe’s body is expected back in Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
