Head-on crash on Highway 154 leads to vegetation fire response

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A head-on crash on Highway 154 sparked a vegetation fire Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened at around 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 154 and San Marcos/Painted Cave Road.
A gray Ford Focus was involved in a head-on collision on Highway 154. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire and spread to nearby brush.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a full vegetation fire response was called in for the vegetation fire. It is not uncommon for a full response to be ordered whenever a fire breaks out during high fire activity weather.
People at the scene tried to put out the fire with water bottles, according to the CHP online log.
Two people were injured in the crash. One suffered minor injuries and the other appears to have suffered serious injuries.
