Fred Gumo: Ruto does not respect old people

Nov. 04, 2019

Fred Gumo returned to Kibra constituency on Sunday to drum up support for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth.
The former Westlands member of parliament attacked Deputy President Dr William Ruto for fielding a candidate in Kibra.
The firebrand legislator described Ruto's backing of a rival candidate in the Kibra parliamentary race as the height of disrespect.
Mr Gumo went on to say that given the disrespect that the deputy president had shown to veteran opposition and ODM leader Raila Odinga, he would never lead the country as president.
"You know this young man attacking Baba, he does nothave respect because when you are young, regardless of your position, you have to respect old age. If you cannot respect age, you cannot get power (Mnajua huyu kijana ambaye anaingilia huyu baba, yeye hana heshima, kwa maan ukiwa kijana hata ukiwa uko kwa cheo gani lazima uheshimu umri. Kama huwezi kuheshimu umri, hata uongozi huwezi kupata), " F red Gumo fir ed. (57:30-57:54)
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) brigade congregated in Kibra on Sunday to drum up support for Imran Okoth as the curtains came down on the official campaigning period.
Kibra residents will troop to polling stations to elect their next member of parliament.
The race has attracted the interest of the big political parties including the governing Jubilee party.
