Juventus winger Douglas Costa “has no reason to envy Kylian Mbappe”, according to former Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu.

Costa scored a stoppage-time winner for Juve against Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday in style, dribbling past three defenders, completing a give-and-go and beating another two men before nutmegging the goalkeeper.
After watching that goal, Lucescu likened the 29-year-old in terms of ability to Mbappe, who is considered the world’s best player under the age of 21.
“Douglas Costa, in terms of quality, has no reason to envy Mbappe at PSG,” he told Tuttosport.
“The other day he scored a beautiful goal in the Champions League, but he’s got the quality to score goals like that every game.
“Trust me, I know,” added the 74-year-old, who brought the Brazilian to Europe during his successful tenure at Shakhtar.
Costa has netted just eight times in three seasons with the Bianconeri, although he did provide 12 assists in Serie A during his first campaign.
“He’s a very generous player, he prefers to make an assist than score himself.”
