Police have launched an investigation after a man was hit over the head with a hockey stick following a crash in Wythenshawe .
Officers were called to a disturbance on Greatfield Road shortly after 6.35pm on Friday evening.
Two cars collided with each other, before a man was assaulted.
The man, whose age is not known, was hit with a hockey stick which caused him to fall over, receiving a cut to the head.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
Eye witnesses described seeing one of the vehicles containing a 'group of young lads.'
Photographs seen by the M.E.N show the front of a black car badly damaged, while a silver car was seen being towed away by a removal truck.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Shortly after 6:35pm on Friday 8 November 2019, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Greatfield Road in Wythenshawe.
"The report stated that there had been a collision on the road before an assault took place."
"A hockey stick was involved where it was used to hit the victim over the head which caused him to fall over.
"He was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment; however, his injuries are not believed to be serious.
"Officers are now trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
