Sundowns Lose Key Player Against Pirates
Jan. 08, 2020
Mamelodi Sundowns will be without one of their key players when they lock horns with Orlando Pirates next week.
The Brazilians played to a 0-0 draw against Bidvest Wits at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium last night, disappointed to not get within a point close to log leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who face off against Highlands Park this evening.
After their CAF Champions League group stage fixture this weekend, Sundowns will thereafter gear up to travel away to the Orlando Stadium next week, January 15, for their first showdown of the season against the Buccaneers.
However, they will have to do so without the services of Themba Zwane, who will have to watch from the stands.
The 30-year-old playmaker picked up his fourth yellow card booking against Wits last night, which means that he will be suspended for their next clash against Pirates.
However, with a week to go before their meeting, Head Coach Pitso Mosimane could possibly receive a boost by the return of one of their South Americans.
