Temperature soars to 6 C today, special weather statement issued
Jan. 10, 2020
If it weren’t for the 40 per cent chance of flurries or rain, it’d be beach weather in the capital Friday.
How else to describe a projected high of 6 C, after Thursday’s deep deep chill.
It isn’t really beachy, of course, but it’s a welcome change (apart from the precipitation) with the temps staying at or about 5 C through the day and into Saturday.
The weather office still has its slightly ominous (but slightly vague) weather statement about freezing rain in the region.
Saturday kicks off with rain in the morning, changing to freezing rain late in the afternoon.
The temperatures will reach a high of about 8 a.m., then plunge, hitting -1 C before falling to -11 C overnight.
Depending where you are, the freezing rain could change to ice pellets through the evening.
Travel will be affected throughout Southern Ontario Saturday into Sunday, according to the provincial transport ministry.
Bottom line: Be careful driving or walking.
Sunday’s looking like snow, with a high of -3 C, heading to an overnight low of -12 C.
Tuesday’s looking much the same.
Wednesday looks warmer, so far, with a high of -3 under cloudy skies.
