Authorities in Ocean County have charged an 18-year-old boy from Manchester with the murder of his mother in Toms River.
It happened back in August of 2019 at the Deer Chase Professional Park on Route 37.
According to prosecutors, Edgar Diaz attacked his mother, Margarita Diaz, 44, of Manchester, stabbed her with a knife, and slammed her head into the pavement outside their parked vehicle.
Prosecutors say it all happened in the presence of Diaz’s younger brother. Diaz was 17 years old at the time.
He was arrested a few days later, and has been lodged in the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center since his apprehension.
Diaz was also charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, specifically a knife.
