Tech Career: Surefire ways to become a successful Microsoft Student Partner (1)

Becoming a Microsoft Student Partner is not enough, bettering and cementing your status as a successful Microsoft Student Partner should be your goal as a student partner! And this guide should definitely come in handy in achieving this set goal.
Last year, I had the opportunity of taking part in the amazing Microsoft Student Partner program, and it has been a really great experience ever since. As a community leader, I do believe that knowledge-sharing, as it sounds, is one of the best gifts a person can bestow upon humanity, which is why the Microsoft Student Partner program is such a great deal to me, and unto all ye MSPs — I say “Congratulations!”.
If you’re not an MSP, and you’re reading this, kindly read through to the end — there’s an amazing gift that awaits you.
As an MSP, you are required to work towards specific milestones and to have made impact within your community before the end of your participation in the Microsoft Student Partners program, for that program year, in order to make your own apportioned part of the program a success.
These milestones are designed in order to empower Microsoft Student Partners in their bid to making a difference within their communities, this is also a part of the plan to better recognise outstanding achievements within the broader MSP community. These milestones are split into four categories, namely: Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Beta, and Gold.
I will reveal details about these milestones in subsequent articles.
To be considered for the Gold milestone status, an MSP has an obligation to complete program requirements and possibly iterate on the process of completing the requirements.
Going forward, I would be sharing some quick tips on how to become a successful Microsoft Student Partner, and make the best of this opportunity bestowed upon you as an MSP.
Being an MSP is all about making impact, while being a better MSP is about making a higher level of impact, which could be summed into these three key modules of — learning about Microsoft’s core technologies, sharingthese learning with other students, and building (and leading) a community around this learning group.
These key modules totally sum up all program requirements, and could be highlighted using these keywords: Learn, Share, Lead. You might want to paste these 3 words on the wall of your dormitory room or any other place you’d see them easily, so you wouldn’t forget them — just make it an obligation to stare at these words every morning you wake up. This is a simple science of constantly reminding yourself of your goals as a Microsoft Student Partner. Going forward, I will be talking about these 3 key modules in the following paragraphs:
In order to become a successful Microsoft Student Partner, an MSP should take learning as a worthwhile responsibility. By learning, you are increasing your learning speed, and expanding your knowledge base, at the same time. Also, by learning, you are gradually becoming a more interesting student leader as well as building your confidence in the subject matter you’re learning about.
A good resource to get started with learning Microsoft technologies is MS Learn (this is a MUST-use platform for all active MSPs). With the contents on Microsoft Learn, a student partner is well-equipped and positioned to master the secrets behind any Microsoft-related subject area.
Also, as a part of your learning process as an MSP, student partners are also encouraged to sign in on MSP Teams and engage with other MSPs — this is where you get most program updates and general information, and this engagement would come in handy during your learning process, as you could get direct answers to questions around specific Microsoft technologies from fellow MSPs, some MVPs, and also, some Microsoft engineers available on the platform. In order to take the best out of your experience as an MSP, do sign in to MSP Teams daily — or, at least, once/twice per week.
