Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman Dr Kwame Kyei has confirmed that the club cannot afford striker Sogne Yacouba's $150,000 demand to renew his contract.
Sogne Yacouba joined the club two seasons ago and has formed an instrumental figure for the Kumasi giants.
"For Sogne Yacouba, to be honest before God, that amount he demands from us, which is $150,000, we can't give him that money.
‘There is no way we can give that money (amount) to him, if we fail to tell you (the supporters) the truth his contract time is due and we say we can sign Sogne Yacouba then we have lied to you.
It appears the Porcupine Warriors will allow Sogne Yacouba to leave the club on free transfer.
But we understand he is attracting offers from new side Legon Cities FC and bitter rivals Hearts of Oak.
There’s another offer on his table from a Sudanese club Al Hilal and it possible he will leave for one of these offers.
"We discussed with him because, we had an offer for him earlier that he was supposed to go, we told him to go and we will resign him.
‘But he said he won't go and he is charging us a fee of $150,000, but if we said we can pay that money then it's a lie, we can't ".
Kotoko have 10 points from five games in the 2019/20 Ghana premier League.
