No Ghanaian Player Is Richer Than Me – Kwesi Appiah
Jan. 23, 2020
Ex-Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has stated that no footballer playing for the Black Stars is richer than him.
The former Al Khartoum boss was reacting to allegations that national team coaches often request money from players.
He explained that he is not the type of coach who begs for money or gifts from his players.
According to him, since the beginning of his coaching career, he has never begged any player for money.
He added that he is richer than every Black Stars coach, so there is no need to ask them for anything.
"No Black star player is richer than me so I will never ask a player to buy me watch, shirt etc. I command respect,” Appiah said on Angel FM.
The 59-year-old recently left his post as Black Stars coach, having spent the last two years at the helm.
Appiah took over from Israeli manager Avram Grant in 2017, but failed to live up to expectation.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), therefore, decided not to renew his contract when it expired last December.
