Deputy suffers smoke injuries while responding to fire in Solana Beach

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. — A fire in a home in Solana Beach Tuesday evening sent a deputy to a hospital with smoke inhalation injuries.
The San Diego County fire and sheriff's departments were called to the scene in the 300 block of Santa Helena near Interstate 5 about 7:45 p.m., according to a sheriff's lieutenant who did not give his first name.
The deputy was responding to the fire when she suffered the injuries. Her injuries are not life threatening, the lieutenant said.
It was not immediately clear if any occupants of the home were injured in the fire.
