Feb. 11, 2020
Two 13-year-old boys are facing felony charges after cellphone video recorded them attacking another child, Hellertown police said.
Police said they were called Feb. 4 for the attack, which occurred at about 7 p.m. that day on Northampton Street.
Police identified the boys by initials in a news release, and stated that they were both 13 years old, but did not give the age of the juvenile victim.
The next day, a person went to Hellertown police to report a girl recorded the attack on her cellphone.
Both boys were brought to the Hellertown Police Department for questioning. After an interview, both boys were charged with felony robbery, misdemeanor simple assault and theft, and a summary charge of harassment.
The boys were taken to the county juvenile detention center. A message left with the Northampton County District Attorney’s office asking about the case was not immediately returned.
