Birmingham school bus rear-ended on interstate; students taken to hospital as precaution

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham school bus carrying children from Rockey Ridge Elementary was rear-ended on the interstate. Nearly half of the students reported minor pain and several were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The incident happened near the intersection of 11th Street and University Boulevard. Birmingham Fire and Rescue told CBS 42 that there were 17 children on the bus at the time of the accident. Six students out of the 17 children complained of minor pain, but four were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The bus driver is reported to be okay and stopped to file a report.
