Feb. 13, 2020

Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, have declared their readiness to sell out a good game in London when they slug it out in a special Independence Cup match on March 7, 2020.
The two biggest clubs in the country will extend their rivalry to the United Kingdom on that unique occasion as they introduce Ghana football abroad at the Barnet Stadium in London in a super clash which is being organized by HRH Sports Consultancy.
Kotoko’s dominance
Speaking at the launch of the novelty game at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) secretariat in Accra yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer of Kotoko, Mr. George Amoako, noted that his club was bent on continuing with their dominance over their arch rivals in London. Mr. Amoako said he believed Kotoko and Hearts would sell off a good game in order to showcase their legacies to the outside world.
“We are going to London to continue our dominance over Hearts, but all in all I believe both clubs will sell out a good game in order to showcase our legacy to the world,” he assured.
The National Chapters Committee (NCC) chairman of Hearts, Elvis Herman Hesse, promised that his side would correct their errors in order to avoid a consecutive defeat to Kotoko this season after their recent 1-2 defeat in their Ghana Premier League encounter.
Hearts revenge
Mr. Hesse explained that it was in their interest to avenge that defeat in the league to Kotoko, especially where it would be played on a neutral ground with an English referee.
“We will correct our mistakes in the first game this season in order to revenge away from home. The most important thing here is that we are playing on a neutral ground in London with a British referee,” he noted.
For his part, Mr. Justin Addo, the CEO of HRH Sports Consultancy, stressed on the need to sell Ghana football to the rest of the world to generate interest in our local league.
