Feb. 13, 2020
A man has been flown to hospital after the truck they were driving rolled on a bridge in Arthur's Pass.
Emergency services were called to the crash on West Coast Rd in Arthur's Pass about 1.50pm on Thursday.
A police spokesman said initial reports suggested a truck had rolled on the Bealey River Rail Bridge.
A rescue helicopter and St John crews had also been sent to the crash, the spokesman said.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman Lyn Crosson said a crew from Arthur's Pass attended the scene and helped with traffic control.
She said a man, who was understood to be the sole occupant of the truck was not trapped.
A St John spokesman said the man was flown to Christchurch Hospital with moderate injuries.
The bridge had been reduced to one lane with a temporary speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour following the crash.
