Valentine: How MTN Put Smiles On Orphan’s Faces
Feb. 16, 2020
Nigerians, like the rest of the world, were in high spirits on Friday, February 14, 2020. It felt like the entire country was in love. It was Valentine’s Day, and like we know, nothing gets people’s heart beating faster than the feeling of love.
While most people were waiting to be given gifts, others such as employees of Nigeria’s leading ICT firm, MTN were going from one orphanage to the other doing the giving. One of the orphanages visited was the Bab-Es-Salam Home in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Before then, there was love oozing out at the MTN Plaza, headquarters of MTN Nigeria, between 7am when the staff began coming in for work, till about 12noon when some volunteered their time to visit select orphanages.
The company’s reception area was designed with flowers and balloons for staff and visitors to take pictures; and one of the backgrounds had the inscription, “My Random Act of Kindness” written on a heart shaped paper.
It was fun to watch employees walk in with excitement upon realisation that Y’ello is also the colour of love. For members of staff who got to visit the Bab-Es-Salam Home to spread love and cheer with the residents, Valentine’s Day couldn’t have been better.
