Liam Neeson has not only starred in numerous action movies, but has also appeared in mega-blockbusters like Star Wars and Batman Begins. He says now that he doesn't like the genre. "I have no desire to go into the gym for three hours every day to pump myself to squeeze into a Velcro suit with a cape, he said.
In recent years, Liam Neeson has become a familiar face in some pretty major blockbuster genre films. After portraying the likes of Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and as the leader of the League of Shadows, Ra's Al Ghul (and Bruce Waynes mentor) in Batman Begins, fans might be yearning to see him make an unexpected appearance in their favorite Marvel -esque film. But dont expect the actor to try his hand at another superhero franchise.
In a recent interview with , when the 67-year-old was asked about whether hed be willing to make a cameo in what the interviewer called the superhero-verse, Neesons response was sharp.
Ill be honest with you, no, he answered. Im not really a huge fan of the genre. I think its Hollywood with all the bells and whistles and the technical achievements and stuff - which I admire. But I have no desire to go into the gym for three hours every day to pump myself to squeeze into a Velcro suit with a cape.
He even gave some insight into his thoughts about his time filming The Phantom Menace, giving an insight to how he approached making the 1999 film.
I enjoyed that, he said, because it was novel and that was new. I was acting to tennis balls, which were ultimately going to be little fuzzy furry creatures and stuff. That was interesting, acting-wise, to try and make that seem real, but that was the last. It was exhausting.
While Neeson says he's not a fan of the genre, but did play a supporting role in last year's Men In Black: International, and also lent his voice to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. To his credit, he's also appeared in critically-acclaimed hits like Widows and Martin Scorsese's Silence in addition to his better-known action films such as Taken and Non-Stop.
Even though he personally doesnt want to take on the challenge, Neeson spoke highly of the actors and actresses who are willing to work in this genre so beloved by fans.
I admire the actors and I know some of the actors who do itand do it fantastically.
