Man City Suffer HUGE Injury Blow Ahead Of Manchester Derby
March. 07, 2020
Manchester City ace Kevin de Bruyne has an outside chance of making the team when the defending champions travel across town to face Manchester United on Sunday.
The Belgian suffered a minor injury during the Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa and missed the FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek.
According to manager Pep Guardiola, the playmaker suffered from a back injury after an awkward fall on Sunday and has not trained with the team since then.
Speaking during Friday's pre-match briefing, Guardiola was optimistic though that the 28-year-old will make the squad, further indicating he will join the rest of the team on Saturday for training.
“He’s getting better, tomorrow he’s going to train, he’s not perfect but he feels better," he said.
“This morning with the physio he said he feels better. Not perfect.”
The defending champions will, however, miss the services of Aymeric Laporte, who limped off the Champions League clash against Real Madrid with a hamstring injury.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season, having clashed twice in the Carabao Cup semifinals, and a league match.
