Chelsea 4-0 Everton: Giroud Scores As Blues Thrash Ancelotti's Side
March. 09, 2020
Carlo Ancelotti return to Stamford Bridge ended in a sad note as Everton were thrashed 4-0 by Chelsea on Sunday 8 March.
After a superb outing in their FA Cup midweek win over Liverpool, Lampard had retained keeper Kepa and young midfielder Billy Gilmour to his starting team and the start was ecstatic.
The speed of Pedro and Willian on the wings coupled by those clever runs by Giroud in the middle were proving to be too hard for Everton and after a series of trying to breach the Everton defence, Chelsea was finally successful in the 14th minute when Mason Mount put them into the lead.
The England midfielder ended an 18-game goal drought by firing past Jordan Pickford at his near post after some donkey work by Pedro down the right.
Ross Barkley was to pull a superb through pass for Pedro who made no mistake by firing past Pickford in what was his first goal of the season.
Everton remains 12th after the loss while Chelsea stays fourth and extended their lead over their Top Four rivals.
