Everything Is Working Against Mourinho As Spurs Midlfielder Is Ruled Out Against RB Leipzig CL Clash
March. 09, 2020
There seems to be nothing going on right for Jose Mourinho at Spurs with Heung Min Son and Harry Kane out with injuries and now, new signing Steven Bergwijn is a doubt for their return leg clash against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Bergwijn has two goals to his name so far since his January move from PSV Eindhoven, but the attacker limped off the field after his side's 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday, giving his manager a worry ahead of tomorrow's match.
In his press conference in Germany ahead of the match, Mourinho said: “The plan was for Steven to play 55-60 minutes and then Lucas to come,” the Portuguese clarified, as reported by Football.London.
“The plan was to keep the fresh players on the pitch for 90 minutes, but I had to change that at half-time immediately,” he continued.
After the draw at Burnley, Spurs dropped to 8th on the log, seven points off Chelsea in fourth place.
Mourinho's men will now need to perform far better than they have been doing in recent weeks if they are to leave Germany with a result, after the 1-0 loss in the first leg.
