Chipper Cash has taken its operations to South Africa.
The payments company, which lauds itself for supporting no-fee cross-border payments, has been eyeing the South African market, following a Nigeria launch in September 2019.
This makes South Africa its sixth base in the content, having started operations in 2018. Besides Kenya, Chipper Cash is also present in Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ghana.
Chipper Cash has main offices in Nairobi and Ghana. Headquartered in San Francisco, Chipper Cash offers P2P payments.
The Chipper Cash app, which is available for both Android and iOS users allows them to send and receive funds from one country to another for free. The exercise is possible by linking a customer’s bank account with a Chipper wallet.
Customers can also buy airtime for themselves, as well as friends and family using the platform.
South Africa users should note that the payments app has been linked to all primary banks in the country: Absa, Capitec, First National Bank, Investec Bank, Nedbank Limited and Standard Bank.
