Some unidentified persons believed to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumawu, capital of Sekyere Kumawu, a district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana have invoked rained ‘generational’ curses on the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the ongoing voters’ registration exercise.
The members in a viral video on social media, are seen and heard calling on a ‘river deity’ to strike dead any EC official, Military or Police personnel who tries to assist in rigging the voters registration exercise by allowing minors and unqualified applicants to be enrolled on the voters register.
In the video, they are seen to be washing their faces in their palm with the stream of the river whilst chanting curses on unqualified applicants, the ruling NPP and any other person who in any way will cause bloating of the register.
From the video, an elderly man who appears to be the chief linguist of the ‘river deity’ received items like six crates of eggs, an amount of money and a white cow which was slaughtered with the blood spilled over what seems like a mould to end the incantation and curses.
He concluded that the ‘river deity’ should strike any Police and Military personnel, EC official, political agent and ‘Macho man’ with cancerous disease should they attempt to stop a qualified applicant from registering too.
