Kepa Arrizabalaga addresses his Chelsea future as Frank Lampard considers selling goalkeeper
Jul 3, 2020
Kepa Arrizabalaga appears to have no thoughts about leaving Chelsea and says he wants to help Frank Lampard ’s side challenge for the Premier League title next season.
The Spaniard became the most expensive goalkeeper in history when he completed a £72million move from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.
Kepa has endured a frustrating spell at Stamford Bridge, however, with a string of errors and an infamous public bust-up with former manager Maurizio Sarri blighting his Blues career to date.
Recent reports say Lampard remains unconvinced about Kepa and will consider selling him this summer , but the 25-year-old does not appear to be overly concerned.
In an interview with Sky Sports , Kepa said he was excited to be playing for ‘fantastic’ club Chelsea and hoped to help the Blues make up ground on Liverpool and Manchester City next season.
‘Let’s hope we are talking in a year’s time and that we are candidates to challenge those two teams [Liverpool and Manchester City],’ he said.
‘We have a great squad and we have a great manager. We can’t deny the gap, in points, between us and the top two, but I’m confident we can close that gap next season.
