YouTube Launches Free At-Home Learning Camp For Kids & Teens
Jul 10, 2020
As parents across the U.S. are scrambling to find ways to entertain and educate their kids during the summer of COVID-19 , searches for online summer camps are surging. In response to the overwhelming demand for fun, educational online resources , YouTube has launched Camp YouTube . The free portal offers more than 1,200 hours of content updated daily from June 22 to July 5.
Designed for both kids under 13 as well as teenagers, themes like STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), adventure, sports, and arts, Camp YouTube offers expertly curated video content created to engage, entertain, and educate.
For kids under 13, YouTube has created a special section where families can watch videos together. Based on the camp themes, kids can learn about everything from creating edible slime to learning new hip hop moves. The high-quality videos are both instructive and inspiring, urging kids to try new activities on their own.

As part of the virtual summer camp, YouTube is featuring video content from well-known partners including National Geographic, PBS Kids, TED-Ed, SciShow, Peekaboo Kidz, Explore.org, Netflix, and other kid-centric channels.
But for some parents, the idea of replacing a real, in-person camp with one that takes place online is not ideal. Citing the need for kids to be outside and socially interacting with friends, parents are worried about relying too much on technology to keep kids engaged during long, hot summer days.
