2021 elections: Ministry approves judo federation’s constitution
Aug 3, 2020

Secretary of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Abimbola Adesinya, says the body’s constitution has received approval from the sports ministry and the Nigeria Olympic Committee ahead of the 2021 national federations elections.
Controversy rocked the last federations’ elections in 2017 after the sports ministry introduced the use of guidelines for the elections, with some contrary to the statutes of the international federations.
But with the judo federation’s constitution ready, Adesinya believes the body will not need a guideline to conduct its next election as the relevant bodies, the sports ministry and NOC, both approved it.
“It is yet to go to the congress due to the outbreak of COVID-19, but any moment from now, the congress will go through it for ratification.
“We are looking at using the zoom platform since the social distancing regulation is still on. What we are waiting for now is the minutes of the congress. We have forwarded the constitution to our international federation. The Nigeria Olympic Committee has approved it, the ministry has, but what is left is the minutes of the congress for ratification.”
