Alex Telles to Manchester United: Transfer latest as Porto left-back pushes for move but clubs disagree over fee

Manchester United hope to drive down Alex Telles’ asking price with the Porto star pushing to join the Red Devils before next month’s transfer deadline.
Telles, the Brazil left-back, is one of United’s top targets for the remainder of the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks new recruits.
Only Donny van de Beek has been brought in so far, with the midfielder arriving from Ajax in a £40million deal.
But Solskjaer wants further arrivals at Old Trafford before the window closes, with reports last week saying negotiations for Telles are at an ‘ advanced ‘ stage.
And The Telegraph now say Telles himself is pushing for the transfer to go through as he is determined to become a Manchester United player.
However, there are issues over the deal as United are unwilling to pay Porto’s asking price for the 27-year-old and they want to drive the fee down.
Telles can be signed for £36.6m due to a release clause in his deal, but he is out of contract next summer so can agree to join a new club for free in January.
This has resulted in United negotiating on a fee with Porto, and talkSPORT revealed earlier this week that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward prefers to pay nothing more than £18m – HALF Telles’ current asking price.
The two clubs remained apart on their valuations on Wednesday evening, but the Telegraph believe talks should quickly progress due to Telles’ desire to play in England.
Telles is widely considered one of Europe’s finest attacking left-backs and he ended last season with 13 goals and 12 assists in just 49 games.
He’s begun this season in similarly exhilarating fashion, netting twice and assisting the other goal in Porto’s season opening 3-1 defeat of Braga.
Man United's Jadon Sancho move is off, with Red Devils now keen on signing Ousmane Dembele, says talkSPORT transfer guru
