Dean Denobile threw for four touchdown passes to lead Morris Catholic over Vernon, 44-14, in Denville.
Morris Catholic scored 30 consecutive points in the first half, putting the game out of reach early with a combination of explosive plays on offense and stifling play on defense.
Denobile found Thomas Stark on a 22-yard touchdown completion before finding Watler Quick with a 47-yard touchdown pass to give Morris Catholic a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Denobile then connected with Nick Gonzalez for a 35-yard touchdown Stark returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown for Morris Catholic (3-2), which matched its season high for most points in a game this season.
Vernon (0-5) got on the board for the first time with a touchdown pass late in the first half, also returning an interception for a touchdown for the first score of the second half to make it a 30-14 game.
Zach Thomas caught a 15-yard touchdown for Denobile’s fourth TD pass of the day before capping off the scoring with a 60-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter to put the game away for good for Morris Catholic.
