Robert Lewandowski And Manuel Neuer Out Of Champions League Encounter With Atletico Madrid

The duo of Robert Lewandowski and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer are set to miss their team's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. According to club manager Hansi Flick, Lewandowski is out due to unspecified injury.
The big Polish striker has scored 15 goals for Bayern Munich across all competitions this season. The veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be rested, as Bayern Munich is already in the round 16 of Champions League.
Flick also confirmed the injury of Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso. The two will be out of the matchday squad trip to Spain. The injury hit Bayern will also be without Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich who have been long - term absentees

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will be sweating to win the game to qualify for he next stage. They have collected five points from four group stage games, sitting just two points above Lokomotiv Moscow.
Atletico have a good record at home. Their only defeat came against Chelsea in September 2017. They have since played 24 Champions League games at home without tasting a defeat.
Despite having already qualified, Bayern will be looking to extend their unbeaten run of six games in Champions League.

Flick noted that it will be a hard game for his team. Atletico is currently at position two in Laliga table, with the best defense in the league.
Flick cited fatigue as a reason for resting some players. He said it was only wise to travel with players who are fit for the game. The team has a series of fixtures coming during December, this according to Flick is another big reason for resting some.
