Velile Makhoba is a South African actress and dancer famous for her role as Gugulethu on Gomora. Her journey began with dancing before she pivoted into acting. Many fans of Gugulethe from Gomora have no idea that she not only acts but also dances. Additionally, she was recently cast in The Black Door in April 2022 in a starring role.

Makhoba was born in Mayville, Durban, KwaZulu Natal Province, South Africa, in 2001. She grew up there and fell in love with traditional South African dancing while still in primary school. These dances were deeply ingrained in her culture and hence held special meaning for her.

Her precise birth date, however, is unknown. Mondli Makhoba is the sole known member of the Velile Makhoba family. He is not her real father, but rather her biological father’s younger brother.Velile attended Cato Crest Primary School, where she discovered her passion for dancing and learned the Zulu dance and Umshado. Makhoba then attended Mayville Secondary School and furthered her dance abilities at the KwaMashu Art Center.Velile Makhoba’s dancing began at a tender age, and her skill level increased over the years. She loved traditional dancing so much that she decided to model her career around it by monetizing it. She is so good at it that she has traveled to several countries to showcase her abilities.In her first year of professional dancing, she even won the Special Recognition International Performances Award, indicating the superiority of her abilities. She is also working on establishing a young, audience-focused dance production company. She uses the platform to teach young people how to turn dancing into art. She has also appeared with the band Izintuthwane. In addition, the dancing ensemble performed at the opening ceremony of the Nedbank Final Cup at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
