George Natembeya is a well-known Kenyan public figure who has served in various administrative roles within the government. Natembeya was born in Transnzoia County in Kenya.He has made a significant contribution to the country's public administration and policy implementation by serving in several sectors within the country.
His professional career began as a personal assistant to the late John Michuki, the former Internal Security Minister. This role taught him the fundamentals of leadership and governance. Natembeya's dedication and competence propelled him through the ranks, eventually becoming a District Commissioner in Murang'a, succeeding Kenneth Lusaka, the current Governor of Bungoma County.
As a District Commissioner,Natembeya was tasked with combating the Mungiki menace, which he successfully overcame. His public service efforts were recognized, leading to his promotion to county commissioner in Isiolo and later to Narok, where he was instrumental in the Mau Forest reclamation.
In June 2019, Natembeya was named Rift Valley regional commissioner. In this capacity, he was in charge of carrying out government directives and policies. He became known for his direct approach to administration, particularly when he addressed the issue of teen pregnancies during the COVID-19 pandemic, holding local chiefs accountable for the well-being of school-age girls in their areas.
