Sachin Tendulkar is the son of Rajni Tendulkar, a retired insurance company employee who served in Foreign Department in LIC’s Santacruz Branch. He became a cricket icon in India and overseas after his stellar twenty-four year career in which he represented and captained the Indian national cricket team, Mumbai in domestic cricket and the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. His career feats include been named “Player of the Tournament” at the 2003 World Cup, winning the 2010 Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy (by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards). The Indian government recognized his career with several of the their highest sportsmanship and civilian honors, including the Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri.
Who is Rajni Tendulkar?
Rajni Tendulkar is the mother of Indian former international cricketer and ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Sachin Tendulkar. She married her husband Ramesh Tendulkar who had lost his previous wife and became a widower with three children; Nitin, Ajit and Savita.
Rajni and her husband Ramesh had a son, Sachin who became a top cricketer and had a 24-year career playing for the Indian national cricket team, Mumbai in domestic cricket and the Mumbai Indians of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
During Rajni’s hay days, she was an employee at an insurance company. She served in the Foreign Department in LIC’s Santacruz Branch over several years before going on retirement.
