Dreams FC and Legon Cities eye University of Ghana Stadium as new home venue
May 1, 2024
Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has revealed that Dreams FC and Legon Cities, two Ghana Premier League clubs, are considering the University of Ghana Stadium as their potential home ground.
The stadium, recently utilized as the primary venue for the African Games, has attracted the interest of both clubs, seeking to relocate their home matches to this facility.
However, Twum cautioned that the transition might not occur this season due to logistical arrangements that necessitate attention. He indicated that discussions with the University of Ghana administration, likely facilitated through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, are imperative to secure permission for the clubs to utilize the stadium for league fixtures.
Highlighting the advantages, Twum emphasized the stadium's accessibility, particularly for evening matches, enabling fans to attend games after work and easily commute to and from the venue.
He remarked, "When it is done, it will give us some ease with the time most of the 3pm matches will be moved to the evening looking at the nature of where the stadium is someone can close from work and he knows the game is 7pm or 8pm and that place from the stadium you get to the bus stop pick your car and go home," during an interview with Peace FM.
