For the last one year, George Nderitu has found himself in a new environment. After all, he had worked in a completely different setting for almost two decades.
Nderitu had until July 2023 serving as the GSU G-Company Commandant. In the position, he was in-charge of State House security.
As the head of the presidential guard unit, Nderitu was the man who ensured that the President was properly protected.
He had served in the position for the entire period of Uhuru's presidency. Before that, he had served as former President Mwai Kibaki's bodyguard and personal assistant for almost the whole of his reign at State House.
He would go on to work for President William Ruto for some ten months until his State House exit in July 2023, when he was replaced by former Recce Squad director of operations, Ernest Cheruiyot.
Nderitu would end up at the GSU headquarters in Ruaraka, where it all begun for him as a law enforcer.
Now serving as the General Staffing Officer, Nderitu is a senior figure at the paramilitary unit headquarters.
Unlike at State House where he was ever present in nearly all of Uhuru's entourages, today, Nderitu's new job is a little bit different. He is no longer in-charge of protecting the President as he had done for almost two decades!
