In a shocking turn of events, a Catholic priest in the UK has ignited outrage following a Good Friday sermon that delved into graphic details of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Father Thomas McHale, a 53- year- old American priest stationed in Consett, reportedly stunned his congregation of approximately 100 parishioners by suggesting that due to the physical trauma of crucifixion, Jesus would have died " with an erection.

The sermon left attendees visibly disturbed, with one member describing it as " shocking" and entirely inappropriate, especially in the presence of young families.

Despite the uproar, Father McHale remains in his position within the church hierarchy.

Investigation and Upheld Complaint

Following the outcry, the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle promptly launched an investigation in line with their established protocol. The investigation has since been concluded, with the complaint upheld.

In response to the severity of the matter, some members of the congregation escalated their concerns to local authorities, prompting swift action from the police.

A spokesperson for the diocese confirmed the investigation' s findings, stating, " A complaint was received and has been investigated in keeping with our diocesan complaints policy. The investigation has been very recently completed, and the complaint is upheld.
