Awuku’s Sweetheart Launches Entrepreneurial Success
Jun 10, 2024
The African Regent Hotel hosted a momentous event this past Saturday: the launch of “Entrepreneurial Success,” a comprehensive new book by Mary Anane Awuku. The book, celebrated for its in-depth exploration of entrepreneurship within the Ghanaian context, promises to be an essential resource for aspiring entrepreneurs, policymakers, educators, and business enthusiasts.
Mrs. Mary Anane Awuku, wife of Mr. Sammy Awuku, Director General of the National Lottery Authority, has leveraged her extensive experience and insights to author this seminal work. “Entrepreneurial Success” delves into the core competences, motivations, challenges, and opportunities faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana. The book launch was graced by a distinguished audience, including industry leaders, government officials, and eminent personalities from various sectors.
Government’s Commitment to SMEs
The Special Guest of Honor, Hon. Abena Osei Asare, emphasized the pivotal role of SMEs in Ghana’s economic framework. “SMEs constitute over 90% of existing companies, account for 85% of manufacturing jobs, and contribute 70% to our national GDP,” she stated. Recognizing their significance, the government is set to launch the SME Opportunities and Growth Fund in July. This initiative aims to assist SMEs in gaining a stronger foothold and to transition select SMEs into larger enterprises, thereby spurring economic growth and job creation. “This group, informed by practical engagements with targeted and existing SMEs in Ghana, will be a guiding light in our path to understanding the dynamism of entrepreneurs and enterprises,” Hon. Osei Asare added.
