Ghanaian-British media personality and entrepreneur Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE

Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE, the Grow, Unite, Build Africa (GUBA) Enterprise CEO, has revealed Ghana is not a founding member of the newly announced Grammy Africa, and this has consequences.

She bemoaned: "It is a little bit unfortunate but the agreement [with the Grammy organisers the Recording Academy] that was supposed to be signed did not happen," and noting Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa are the four founding members of Grammy Africa, added "these four countries will be able to host the Grammys" unlike Ghana.

Choosing to keep details off the air, she volunteered: "I think it is resources and a few things that the [Ghana] will need to be part of [Grammy Africa]."

It is not all gloom, however, she clarified, seeing as: "It doesn't stop any [Ghanaian] artiste from being nominated but it is just the hosting and other benefits that the [founding] country will have. At the moment Ghana is not apart of it."

Even more, the celebrated entrepreneur revealed Ghana and a West African neighbour, Cote d'Ivoire, could sit at the Grammy Africa membership table when they fulfil some provisions after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Lady Dentaa spoke to Andy Dosty on Accra-based Hitz FM.

She observed how Grammy Africa presents great economic advantages through marketing of African culture and its tourism opportunities.
