🔥😱 Story Of Ishola Oyenusi, Nigeria's Notorious Armed Robber Who Died Smiling
Jul 6, 2024
On September 8, 1971, notorious armed robber Ishola Oyenusi, along with his gang, was executed by firing squad at Bar Beach, Lagos, after being convicted by a military tribunal. Known as ' Doctor, ' Oyenusi terrorized Lagos and neighboring South- West states in the 1970s, committing brutal crimes that resulted in numerous deaths and significant property loss. His reputation for killing mercilessly and evading arrest, allegedly through the use of local charms, made him a formidable figure. Oyenusi reportedly told police he would escape and couldn' t be killed by bullets, maintaining a defiant smile even as he was led to his execution before hundreds of witnesses.
Oyenusi' s criminal activities spanned several years, with a particularly notorious incident along Herbert Macaulay Road in Yaba, Lagos. There, he robbed and killed a man, sold the stolen car for £400, and gave the money to his girlfriend. In March 1971, he attacked a factory in Ikeja, killing a police officer on guard and stealing £28, 000.
During Oyenusi' s reign of terror, Abubakar Tsav, who later became a retired Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, was an assistant superintendent of police. Tsav served at the Lion Building, the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos. Before Oyenusi, robbery cases were rare. However, Oyenusi' s emergence shocked everyone, as he was believed to use charms that made him invisible and immune to arrest. His ruthlessness and surprise tactics made him notorious, comparable to Lawrence Anini' s later infamy in Edo State.
