President Nana Akufo Addo has taken on Former President John Dramani Mahama for trying to take undeserved credit for the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy. He urged the NDC leader to acknowledge his role in introducing the policy.

Speaking during his media engagement at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Sunday, July 7, John Dramani Mahama stated that the policy was introduced by his government in 2015.

Mr Mahama explained that his party is never against free SHS, adding that they only disagreed with the NPP' s approach of implementing it immediately instead of progressively free.

In a sharp rebuttal, Akufo Addo pointed out that when he initially proposed the policy, the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama strongly opposed it and said it was not possible.

Addressing party supporters during the unveiling ceremony of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for the party at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, the President called on Mahama to give him credit if he now realizes the importance of the policy.

" This man criticized us when we said we were going to implement the Free SHS policy. Now that Ghanaians have accepted the policy, he is saying he is the one who introduced Free SHS. Have you ever heard such a thing? "

" He indeed said that we are forgetful people. Will we forget this too? " President Akufo- Addo said.
