Veteran Nollywood actor and producer Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, has distanced himself from an actor allegedly involved in a kidnapping ring killed by police in Lagos.

The incident came to light when popular film producer and former Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), Seun Oloketuyi, posted on Instagram. Oloketuyi shared images of Prince Henry Ode, claiming that the rising actor was among the kidnappers killed in a police shootout in the Ladipo area of Lagos.

Reacting to these reports, Kanayo O. Kanayo took to social media on Tuesday, urging bloggers and media outlets to exercise caution in labeling individuals as actors or producers without thorough verification. Introducing himself, Kanayo stated, " My name is Kanayo O Kanayo, a Nollywood actor and a lawyer. And why I made this introduction is because I' m one of the protectors of the Nigerian entertainment industry in word and in deed. "

Kanayo expressed his concerns over the news, questioning the criteria used to classify someone as a Nollywood actor or producer. " I just read this breaking news: ' Nollywood actor amongst nine alleged millionaire kidnappers killed by Police in Lagos. ' And I begin to ask, who is a Nollywood actor, who is a Nollywood producer? " he said.
