Tom Cruise's £50k a year gift to daughter Suri - despite not seeing her in years
Aug 24, 2024
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed daughter Suri in 2006, less than a year after they started dating, but their relationship ended bitterly in June 2012 after six years of marriage
Tom Cruise has given his estranged daughter Suri a whopping £50,000 gift, despite not seeing the teenager in years.
The 18-year-old has recently moved onto the campus of the private - and expensive - Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which marks the first time she’s lived apart from her doting mother Katie Holmes, 45. Hollywood icon Tom, 62, is rumoured to be estranged from his daughter following his divorce from the Dawson’s Creek star in 2012, but he’s reportedly offered up a large gift as Suri celebrates the milestone of starting university.
According to reports, the Mission: Impossible star will be paying the annual tuition fee of $65,000 (£50,000) after agreeing to fork out for Suri’s education costs in the divorce settlement between him and Katie in 2012. The former Hollywood power couple, who got engaged after just weeks of dating in 2005, split after six years of marriage, with Katie being awarded full custody of their daughter. The settlement also reportedly stated that Tom had to pay $400,000 (£304,000) a year in child support payments. The Top Gun: Maverick star also agreed to pay for all of Suri’s medical, dental, insurance, education, college and “other extracurricular costs” until she was 18.
