UK’s New Deportation Law for Illegal Migration | Illegal Migration Act 2023 – UK Immigration 2024
Aug 24, 2024
The UK government has made several fresh immigration-related announcements. These measures, which include stepping up deportation efforts and stiffening penalties for using undocumented labor, demonstrate a firm position in response to popular concerns about immigration control.
Enhanced deportation efforts, more deportation flights, harsher penalties for employers, new penalties for hiring illegal workers, fighting smuggling networks, hiring more officers to target smuggling operations, changing policy regarding the Rwanda deportation plan, and scrapping the previous government’s plan are some of the topics covered in this update.
Increased Deportation Intent
The UK government intends to minimize the number of asylum seekers arriving by small boats by increasing the number of deportation flights. By taking this action, the recent fall in deportations will be addressed and the numbers returned to those of 2018.
Tougher Penalties for Companies Hiring Undocumented Workers
Employers who hire undocumented workers will now be subject to harsher sanctions, including fines, orders to liquidate their businesses, and possible legal action. The purpose of this action is to deter hiring people who are not legally in the country.
Combating Smuggling Networks
The government is hiring 100 more investigative officers with the newfound resources to fight illegal immigration even more. These officers’ primary goal will be to take down the smuggling networks that enter the UK with asylum seekers.
